This Fall, Artbarn’s Out of the Box Productions proudly toured our latest piece – TECH MESSAGE: A Brief Communication About Modern Technology.
Our two casts – The Cast of Gizmos & The Cast of Gadgets – played 16 performances on 8 different stages, for over 2,000 different audience members. Our immense gratitude to our hosts – the administrators, teachers and students of the Brookline Public Schools, and the staff of Boston Children’s Museum.
Out of the Box Productions is an audition-based, community service performance troupe that brings socially relevant theatre into the Brookline Public Schools and the surrounding community. Each year two casts of 4th-6th grade actors travel an original show to all eight Brookline elementary schools, reaching nearly every K-6 student in Brookline.
In recent years Out of the Box Productions has explored ‘Fear of Failure’, ‘Popularity’, ‘Social Activism’, ‘Environmental Sustainability’, and ‘Leadership.’ This year’s show explored the benefits and caveats of our relationship with the gadgets and gizmos that are rapidly becoming ubiquitous in our society.
